A Walk Down Memory Lane with Timberland: Over Five Decades of Standing Tall

As Hypebeast celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we reflect on the brands that have left a long-lasting legacy within the streetwear arena. In 1973, Timberland’s Original Yellow Boot™ was born out of factory workers’ desire for a shoe that could do it all — something sturdy and waterproof that could support them through even New England’s harshest weather. The boot soon traversed through the Paninaro movement in Italy, London’s rave culture, and was proudly adopted by the ‘90s NYC hip-hop scene. After proving its worth as a shoe that could transcend cultures and demographics, the Yellow Boot was cemented as a global statement piece for fashion lovers, blue-collar workers, stars and athletes alike. By the time the ‘70s and ‘80s eras emerged, its popularity urged the brand to release three new silhouettes: the Euro Hiker, the 40-Below Superboot and the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe. Now, Timberland continues to pen new chapters to that story with novel innovations and collabs with some of the hottest contemporary labels. Taking a walk down memory lane, we laid out some of the brand’s most coveted collabs and releases over the past two decades. In 2009, Timberland introduced the first of many collaborations with Alife. The two labels’ most recent partnership yielded the 2021 Timberland x Alife Superboot, which showed a more extended upper. The brand also debuted collaborations with Stüssy and Colette in 2009 and 2010. Other standout collabs from the 2010s included the Supreme launches (a favorite for fashion and footwear collectors), Bee Line partnerships, and OFF-WHITE, Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo exclusive drops.Bringing the brand’s legacy into today’s framework, Timberland continues to capture the attention of the masses through unforgettable campaigns, like its 2024 ICONIC campaign featuring Naomi Campbell, Teddy Swims, Slawn and Kai-Isaiah Jamal and the 2025 Advice of an Icon campaign starring Spike Lee, Kiko Mizuhara and Skepta. All of these initiatives show the evolution of Timberland through different eras — but one icon remains the throughline: the Original Yellow Boot™.Learn more about Timberland’s legacy through the decades and the recently released Fall/Winter 2025 offerings on timberland.com.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

Camper Supercharges Technical Innovation For Karst 2

Four years on from the release of its Karst sneaker, Camper follows up with the reveal of its technical Karst 2 silhouette. Staying true to the ergonomic foundations of the Karst line, the new arrival adopts a similar molded shape to its predecessor. At the base, a segmented Vibram outsole flows into rounded leather patches across the toebox and heel tab, maintaining the undulating lines inspired by the Tramuntana mountains. One of the more noticeable changes to the original Karst model lands in the midsole. Swapping the slim unit for a chunkier ReXarge® foam, the latest silhouette becomes more stable and cushioned while promising a lightweight wear. The comfort of this feature is further enhanced by interior padding as well as an OrthoLite® footbed made from recycled materials. In addition to the updated midsole, Camper introduces a new Mary Jane-style velcro fastening, arriving alongside the staple lace-up version. The Nike Mind 002 “Light Smoke Grey” Has an Official Release Date

Name: Nike Mind 002 “Light Smoke Grey”Colorway: Light Smoke Grey/Photon Dust-Hyper Crimson-ChromeSKU: HQ4308-003MSRP: $145 USDRelease Date: January 8, 2026Where to Buy: NikeNike is launching the Mind 002 “Light Smoke Grey,” a revolutionary sneaker that marks the debut of the new Nike Mind footwear platform. Developed over a decade in collaboration with the Nike Mind Science Department, this shoe moves beyond physical performance to actively engage the mind-body connection, helping athletes achieve focus, presence, and calm. The core of the technology lies in the shoe’s unique sole unit, which features 22 independent foam nodes per shoe. These nodes are engineered to act like pistons, activating key sensory areas on the bottom of the foot to amplify ground sensation. This heightened sensory feedback helps clear mental distractions, a process validated by neuroscientists to improve an athlete’s focus before and after competition. The Mind 002 is the sneaker version of the platform, designed to securely anchor the foot to the stimulating footbed. The aesthetic is intentionally minimalist, utilizing a calming “Light Smoke Grey” colorway with a space-age, perforated foam-like upper. Chrome accents hit the Swoosh to provide a subtle contrast to the shoe’s monochromatic grey upper, while the nodes on the sole are in Hyper Crimson for the added vibrant touch that emphasizes the Mind technology. The Zellerfeld x Nike Air Max 95000 “Volt” Has Surfaced

Name: Zellerfeld x Nike Air Max 95000 “Volt”Colorway: Black/VoltSKU: IR1113-001MSRP: $250 USDRelease Date: Holiday 2025Where to Buy: NikeThe Nike Air Max legacy is rocketing into the future with a shocking twist. In its highly anticipated collaboration, 3D footwear innovator Zellerfeld is set to be lending its cutting-edge, one-piece printing technology to a futuristic rendition of the Air Max 95000 in the colorway of electric, high-voltage “Volt.”While past Zellerfeld x Nike collaborations have focused on the Air Max 1 silhouette (dubbed the AM1000), this latest project would scale that ambition up to an entirely new, expressive design. The model would likely feature a seamless, laceless upper that is fully 3D-printed in Zellerfeld’s signature latticework structure, instantly giving the shoe a look of perpetual motion. The iconic “Volt” hue—a neon green that has been synonymous with Nike innovation since the late 1980s—would be the perfect choice for this experimental technology. It highlights the seamless construction along with added details on the Air Max Bubbles and mini Swoosh branding, emphasizing the shoe’s fusion of a historical color with the future of manufacturing. The “Volt” green contrasts with a neoprene-esque all-black upper. The Air Max 95000 would combine the lightweight comfort of 3D-printed foam with encapsulated Air units, continuing Nike’s mission to blend expressive design with next-level cushioning.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

NIKE, Inc. Sport Offense Is All About Innovation

When Elliott Hill replaced John Donahoe as the CEO of Nike just over a year ago, the brand doubled down on its commitment to athletes and innovation. While such a shift takes time to fully materialize, Nike has just taken a bold step forward with the unveiling of NIKE, Inc. Sport Offense. This new structure involves not only Nike’s innovation, design, and product teams, but Jordan Brand and Converse’s as well. The introduction of this single, athlete-focused creation engine is designed to lead to “more game-changing products for athletes everywhere,” according to Nike.”By uniting our creation organization across Nike, Jordan, and Converse, we’re accelerating progress and fully leveraging our strengths to deliver epic products that make athletes better. It’s a new day in Innovation, Design, and Product at Nike,” shares Phil McCartney, Chief Innovation, Design, and Product Officer.Four technological advances centered around solving problems for athletes have been announced: Project Amplify, the Therma-FIT Air Milano Jacket, Aero-FIT, and the Mind 001 and Mind 002.Project AmplifyLeading off the new pillars of innovation is Project Amplify, the world’s first powered footwear system for running and walking. Designed to empower everyday athletes to reach greater speeds and distances with less effort, the natural lower leg and ankle movement is augmented. While Nike refers to it as a “new future for running, jogging, and walking,” the robotics system isn’t for competitive runners. Instead, the brand notes that Project Amplify helps some shave two minutes off of their 12-minute mile time, targeting everyday athletes. This breakthrough is compared to how electric bikes strengthen the capabilities of bike riders, which has greatly impacted modern commuting.Created with robotics partner Dephy, Project Amplify features a motor that is both light and powerful. This is backed by a drive belt and rechargeable cuff battery to connect to a carbon fiber–plated running shoe that can be worn with our without the augment system. This bold new approach to mechanical footwear is still in its testing stage, with a broad consumer launch targeted for sometime in the coming years.Therma-FIT Air Milano JacketNike Air is one of the industry’s most important innovations to date. After almost 50 years, the technology is as prevalent as ever, powering countless sneakers. Now, it sports Nike’s “most technically engineered garment of its kind.” The Therma-FIT Air Milano Jacket is powered by A.I.R. (Adapt. Inflate. Regulate.) Technology. This new design combines the Air we know and love with innovative materials and computational design informed by the Nike Sport Research Lab to offer dynamic warmth. Temperature is regulated in real time, with the jacket inflating or deflating in seconds, without having to change layers. These warmth levels are designed to range from a hoodie to a puffer jacket. The Therma-FIT Air Milano Jacket will be worn by Team USA athletes during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and will serve as their medal ceremony look. Each of the team’s jackets features the sculpted design, a custom ACG pump, and a special lining graphic that nods to the team’s home in Colorado Springs. With Paralympic athletes in mind, Nike made sure to include accessibility elements, from interior bottom hem thumb loops to a magnetic zipper.Aero-FITNike recognizes that rising heat and humidity continues to challenge athletes. As a response to this shift, the brand has created Aero-FIT. This material innovation results in Nike’s best cooling system to date, with it said to be more than twice as effective at creating airflow than legacy Nike materials. Aero-FIT improves sweating efficiency with its revamped movement of air between skin and fabric. While elliptical mesh zones serve as a visual signature, the lighter mesh ensures peak airflow, targeting high-heat areas. It also is Nike’s “first elite performance apparel made from 100 percent textile waste,” which it has accomplished thanks to chemical recycling. Before Aero-FIT is brought across Nike’s product strategy, it will make its global debut during the FIFA World Cup 26, with federations’ football kits featuring the material.Mind 001 and Mind 002Rounding out the NIKE, Inc. Sport Offense’s initial set of technological advances is the brand’s first exploration of neuroscience-based footwear. Over 10 years in the making, the Mind 001 mule and Mind 002 sneaker are two mind-altering footwear models. The goal is, by leveraging 22 independent foam nodes per shoe, athletes are able to “lock in their mindset before and after competition.” The Mind lineup is scientifically shown to “activate key sensory areas of the brain via underfoot stimulation,” deepening awareness and grounding them in the moment. This serves as the first two creations from Nike’s Mind Science Department, a new part of the Nike Sport Research Lab centered around the mind-body connection. Look out for both models to become available in January 2026.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
