The Three Stripes have always boasted a deep, diverse group of collaborators. So deep, in fact, that we can often forget some of the unexpected names that have graced their models. Dr. Seuss is a key example, making another appearance with a Dr. Seuss adidas Rivalry Low collaboration set to hit shelves soon.
It’s a relatively simple application of the character’s hallmarks, all told. The iconic white & red pinstripes of the Cat’s top hat appear on the tongue, alternating between traditional leather and textured felt, before concluding with an additional leather swatch at the base of the lace unit. Elsewise, the shoe is dominated by black & white, an always-reliable foundation in and of itself and a tacit nod to the Cat in the Hat’s greyscale character design.
adidas and Dr. Seuss’ estate already have a pre-existing relationship, bringing the Grinch to the adidas Forum in an official capacity for the past two years. The synergy there syncs up with a renewed push for the adidas Rivalry as a whole, as German creatives have brought a host of collaborators onto the canvas in the past 12 months: the Simpsons, Anthony Edwards, Trae Young & Extra Butter (twice) are just some of the names that have been attached.
The Cat In The Hat adidas Rivalry Low releases via Foot Locker on July 17th, retailing for $115. This page will be updated with direct shopping links before the launch, so keep this article handy if you’re hoping to grab a pair. Otherwise, catch an additional detail shot just ahead.
