A few ongoing seasonal collections calling back to Nike’s founding year has been gaining momentum throughout 2024. The “1972” set, not to be confused with the more retro-themed “Since ’72” concept, has been channeling a new-meets-old aesthetic via futuristic logo updates and badging as seen on this upcoming Dunk Low Disrupt 2 for women.
Said details are immediately visible on the tongue, where a silver ellipse houses a red Swoosh logo, while a “NIKE 1972” nameplate sits at the heel. The choice of model also speaks to that blend of past and present as the Dunk Low, a iconic model from 1985, gets “disrupted” via a remixed construction with superfluous heel panels, misplaced Swoosh logos, and an enlarged tongue.
Like the Disrupt 2 or not, these are hitting Nike.com in the coming weeks.
Prefer the classic build? The Dunk Low “Malachite” is dropping in April.
