The Air Jordan 1 truly needs no introduction. With a history nearly spanning 40 years, the challenge for Nike over the past several years hasn’t been how to present classic editions, but how to keep up energy around brand new takes on the model. Rather than making tweaks in the margins, the upcoming Air Jordan 1 High Craft “Ivory” is almost a total overhaul.
Nike launched the “Craft” program in earnest in 2022, classic silos like the Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 4 folded into it in the time since. The primary calling card of the series is material changes, tinkering with those long-founded construction of those sneakers. Here, while the most iconic editions of the Air Jordan 1 are built chiefly out of leather, this pair eschews it entirely, instead constructing its upper out of a mix of canvas and suede.
The “Shadow” or “Bred” color-blocking sticks around, but a more neutral palette takes to it, dressing the sneakers in a mix of Cool Grey and the titular “Ivory” on the heel, Swoosh and midsole. In the finer details, there’s also some meaningful changes, grafting an exposed foam tongue and a speckled midsole on the silhouette, largely unfamiliar accents for the iconic model. Finally, while the Wings logo towards the collar is typically debossed into the leather, here it’s embroidered on top of that new textured canvas.
The Air Jordan 1 “Ivory” drops March 30th on SNKRS, retailing for $180 and arriving in men’s sizing. Enjoy a full suite of official images just ahead.
