With its rabid global fanbase reaching millions, Dungeons & Dragons is witnessing no shortage of hoopla for its 50th Anniversary celebration in 2024. With several in-person events, tournaments, and conventions scheduled throughout the calendar, the DnD community has plenty of fantasy to revel in as the iconic role-playing game enters its 51st year of cultural influence.
As part of its celebration, Dungeons & Dragons is collaborating with Converse for a limited edition capsule of footwear that nods to the various DnD ephemera, such as the 20-sided dice, the official rulebook that governs the action, and the first-edition illustrations that set the foundation for this endless world of medieval fantasy.
Seen above are three distinct versions of the Dungeons & Dragons x Converse Chuck 70 which features a molded star patch that captures the multi-faceted shape of the 20-sided die. The uppermost eyelet is shaped like a hexagon, nodding to the grids used during gameplay. Behind the tongue are additional details inspired by the character sheets. The shoes is also modified to appear like the toothy mimic from the Monster Manual.
In addition to the three established Chuck 70 releases are Dungeons & Dragons design options on Converse By You; samples of the creations can be seen in the gallery just below.
The entire collection will first drop exclusively at Gary Con XVI, the annual gaming convention held in Lake Geneva, WI that honors the life of D&D co-creator Gary Gygax, who is considered to be the father of role playing games. After that initial drop, Converse will launch the Chuck 70 collection, apparel, and Converse By You options online beginning on April 11th, 2024.
In other shoe collab updates, here’s the latest on the upcoming Trophy Room Jordan 1 Low.
