Though WNBA All-Star weekend gave another spotlight for the New York Liberty superstar to showcase her Nike Sabrina 2 signature, the W will have to wait (for now). With injury holding Ionescu out from competing during the 2021 Olympics, all attention will be paid to bringing home a gold medal before picking up the quest for a championship once again. That’s no doubt a guiding light for the latest colorway of her signature, clad in “Metallic Gold” accents.
At this stage, this is expected to be a Grade School only release. Despite that, there’s no denying the distinguished atmosphere at play with this shoe’s foundation. The mudguard/eyestay panel, tongue and large swatches of the heel are clad in jet black, an unconventional color-blocking scheme that creates serious depth to this design.
Synthetic mesh at the quarter panels does the same, the sheer white coloring again showcasing the FlyWire anchoring tech that led to so many comparisons to the Nike Kobe 5. Emblazoned gold accents on the medial & lateral Swooshes and the tongue tag close out this look with some serious pedigree, exceeding by greatly livening up an otherwise monochromatic outfit.
The Nike Sabrina 2 “Metallic Gold” is expected to land in the coming weeks, retailing for $100 if pricing from previous releases hold. Again, only grade school / big kids sizes are expected for this colorway- check the gallery below for official images if you’re planning to scoop up your own upon arrival.
