Unquestionably the fastest growing division in Boston is New Balance Hoops, assembling an impressive roster of NBAers (and future pros like Cooper Flagg) to go alongside their growing inline catalog. As the tip-off of the NBA season approaches, they’ve begun to unveil their latest & greatest offerings – the TWO WXY v5 is next up, set to hit shelves in very short order.
While we had caught wind of one of these pairs before, this announcement comes with some detailed explanation of the model’s bonafides. To the latter end, the TWO WXY v5 iterates on the fourth edition’s cushioning package, reprising the blend of FuelCell and Fresh Foam X tech that graced the fourth edition. A single piece mesh upper gets a strip of TPU foxing that encircles the shoe to achieve true lockdown, a fit for the high-octane games of Dejounte Murray, Aaron Nesmith, Darius Bazley and Jamal Murray, each expected to lace these up for 2024-25.
Speaking of the newly-extended Denver Nugget, the tone-on-black edition that we previewed earlier is in fact an ode to Kitchener’s finest. Last spotlighted with his lifestyle collection in May, his “Blue Arrow” moniker inspires the look, lending the pastel shade and a “X marks the spot” bullseye emblazoned below the laces. A second “Cotton Candy” colorway, said to “remind players of the fun and nostalgic joy that basketball brings,” will accompany that pair as the model debuts.
Look for the New Balance TWO WXY v5 on September 13th, releasing via New Balance channels and partnering retailers for $120. Official images are embedded below for you to get a better sense ahead of the silo’s arrival.
