Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more ingrained in the business world by the day; the sneaker industry being no small exception. All the biggest brands are undoubtably exploring everything AI has to offer, and while we can only imagine what will occur as technology continues to improve, we’re already getting a glimpse at the future. In the wake of Nike unveiling an array of prototypes earlier this year, PUMA is ready to release its first ever AI-designed shoe to the masses.
Meet the PUMA Inverse; a futuristic mashup of the resurgent PUMA Inhale among other archival silhouettes. PUMA used an AI-made concept as a jumping off point before handing off to humans for the final touch-up, making the shoe more realistic and functional in the latter stage.
Inhale DNA isn’t hard to spot here, with comparable abstract lines wrapping a mesh upper in the form of a TPU cage. Underfoot, the Inverse is best examined as a new shoe entirely. The midsole is about as progressive as they come, outfitted with ProFoam cushioning, soothing brushed lines, and exposed portions around the heel. An electrifying mix of red, black, and “Dark Amethyst” comprises the inaugural Inverse colorway, aptly matching the energy of the model itself.
If you’re moved to cop, these release on December 7th for $120 via PUMA and select retailers. Take advantage of the purchase links in our “Where To Buy” section below upon arrival.
