Jordan Brand is paying homage to its own history by converting a modern performance silhouette into a nostalgic icon with the upcoming Air Jordan 4016 “Midnight Navy.” This shoe is a meta-tribute that takes the technology of the recent Air Jordan 40 and reimagines it through the unforgettable aesthetic of the Air Jordan 16 model.

The “4016” is a striking blend of retro and future. It carries the Air Jordan 40’s advanced construction, which notably features a full-length Zoom Strobel unit stacked over ZoomX foam for marathon-level, explosive cushioning. However, the exterior is a direct reference to the AJ16’s classic “Midnight Navy” colorway, first seen in 2001.

The shoe adopts the AJ16’s signature design element: a sleek, black removable shroud that covers the laces and the ankle collar. In this “Midnight Navy” edition, this overlay is seen to be executed in a rich, dark navy blue, providing a sharp contrast to a white leather upper and accents. This hybrid approach allows the wearer to choose between the aggressive, shielded look of the AJ16 and the stripped-down performance of the AJ40 beneath. The Air Jordan 4016 “Midnight Navy” is set for release in Fall 2025 and will retail for approximately $205 USD.
