Unboxing: LAIKA Celebrates 13th Anniversary With Nike Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” Drop

As spooky season settles into motion, Oregon-based film studio LAIKA is back with a re-release of the Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated ParaNorman, remastered in 3D with an accompanying short animated film entitled The Thrifting. The short film will appear in tandem with the reimagined 2012 comedy horror film, beloved for its quirky characters and its main protagonist, Norman, a young boy gifted with the ability to speak with the dead. Celebrating its 13th anniversary, the studio revisited its vault to spotlight its collaboration with Nike, gifting 13 pairs each of the highly coveted Foamposite “Weird Wins” and Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” in a limited-time giveaway that ended on October 13. View this post on InstagramA post shared by HYPEBEAST Kicks (@hypebeastkicks) Originally released in 2012 as a part of ParaNorman’s promotional wide release, the Foamposite “Weird Wins and Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” provided the perfect canvas to play with the film’s otherworldly themes. Exclusively unveiled during a limited-time giveaway, these models are one-of-a-kind and extremely rare to see out in the wild. From a design perspective, the striking Air Raid 2 model features a black mesh base enveloped in an eye-catching skeleton motif that wraps the midsole. A cross-strapped bone design, fastened atop the upper with oversized green hardware, adds another layer of dimension to play off the electric laces and matching green interior collar. Underfoot, contrasting neon green nubuck overlays hug the outer sole. Continuing this graphic color scheme, “One World” lettering stamps the heel tag.As the studio behind Missing Link (2019), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), The Boxtrolls (2014), ParaNorman (2012) and Coraline (2009), it’s no wonder that the hyper elusive Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” colorway opts for a playful yet mischievous color design. Its bold design captures the film’s whimsical energy, with pops of neon green to enliven your style expression. Alongside the re-release of each shoe model, the short film The Thrifting will expand upon the universe of ParaNorman, bringing fans an extra dose of comedy-tinged, lighthearted horror.Check out the maximalist Air Raid 2 model in the photos and Unboxing video above. Grand Collection Turns New Balance Numeric’s 770 Into a Sleek Dress Shoe

New Balance has teamed up with New York’s Grand Collection to release a skate shoe and apparel capsule centered around the reimagined Numeric 770. The collaboration brings the sneaker to life in premium black and white leather colorways, complemented by a refined selection of sportswear.“In the ’80s, there wasn’t a skate-specific shoe, so we borrowed from basketball, tennis, and running styles.”Reintroduced by the Numeric skate team, the 770 now features enhanced stability and durability to meet both stylistic and functional demands.“Going through the archives, the 770 really stands out,” says Numeric’s General Manager, Sebastian Palmer. “The cross-trainer era was a truly experimental time in footwear. In the ’80s, there wasn’t a skate-specific shoe, so we borrowed from basketball, tennis, and running styles. This one has a really good flat sole and all the essentials you need for skating.”The collaboration debuted with a showroom at Paris Fashion Week, an off-calendar runway show, and a jazz-inspired skate film shot in New York. “For Numeric and Grand, we’re both obsessed with shape, form, fabric, and true functionality,” says Grand founder Ben Oleynik. “This shoe is the embodiment of all of these things. It can live perfectly on the runway and actually be skated in.”The 770 features debossed co-branding, while the apparel capsule includes a velour tracksuit, polar fleece wind shirt with matching bottoms, and a heavyweight cotton sweatsuit. Each piece is finished with embroidered branding and YKK zippered pockets, in an understated aesthetic.“This shoe is the embodiment of all of these things. It can live perfectly on the runway and actually be skated in.”The collaboration is further brought to life through a black-and-white skate film starring Numeric and Grand skaters Brian Reid and Spencer Hamilton.New Balance Numeric x Grand Collection is available now at grandcollectionco.com, newbalance.com, and select global retailers.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

The book, which spotlights his extensive portfolio across various major brands, offers fans and designers a rare look behind the scenes, including teasers of unreleased New Balance colorways. The massive, 368-page book is not just a retrospective; it’s a detailed exploration of Bembury’s design philosophy, focusing on sketches, samples, and renderings that show how his creations move from abstract idea to finished product. The book confirms Bembury’s reputation for textural experimentation, showcasing the evolution of hit designs like the Crocs Pollex Clog and his nature-inspired collaborations with New Balance. Most excitingly for sneakerheads, the pages reveal a closer look at unreleased versions of the New Balance 1000 and 990v2. First Look at the Upcoming Nike LeBron 23 “Bubble Boy”

Name: Nike LeBron 23 “Bubble Boy”Colorway: Cool Grey/Metallic Silver-Vivid Purple-Multi-ColourSKU: IF0694-002MSRP: $210 USDRelease Date: November 18Where to Buy: NikeNike is launching one of the most culturally loaded colorways in the LeBron 23 collection, the “Bubble Boy.” This release is a cheeky and elaborate tribute to the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2020 NBA Championship, which was famously won inside the highly contained “bubble” environment at Disney World during the pandemic. The colorway intentionally plays into the nickname given to the Lakers’ victory—the “Mickey Mouse ring”—by featuring a subtle design nod to Walt Disney’s art style. The shoe itself starts with an iridescent silver upper, designed to visually represent the actual containment bubble. A purple line, symbolizing the Lakers, snakes across the upper, creating a contrast with the silver. High-shine detailing is used to mimic the championship hardware: the Swoosh logo is jeweled, a reference to the championship rings. The official color breakdown is Cool Grey, Black, and Metallic Silver, giving the shoe a sleek, almost sterile appearance that evokes the bubble’s isolation. This storytelling is a bold move by Nike. The “Bubble Boy” not only commemorates LeBron’s fourth title but also acknowledges the public debate surrounding the legitimacy of the bubble season. The LeBron 23 “Bubble Boy” is scheduled to release next month.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
