Four years ago, On debuted the hit Cloudmonster franchise as a go-to for runners seeking maximum cushioning. The third chapter of the series has just been revealed, and is spearheaded by one of the brand’s most innovative shoes yet: the On LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper.
On announced its LightSpray technology, an ultralight solution for running shoe uppers, in 2024. However, it wasn’t ready yet for widespread commercial use. Now, a special version of the Cloudmonster 3 Hyper sports it, reducing total shoe weight (205g for men’s US size 8.5) by approximately 25%. This is accomplished by combining just eight pieces to create the shoe — two midsole elements, five small rubber components, and one upper. As a result, elite performance is paired with a smaller carbon footprint. Looking closer at the lead design, the white LightSpray upper hosts black branding elements throughout, resting atop yellow CloudTec-based tooling.
For those interested in picking up a pair of On’s new LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper shoes, it is set to drop on March 5 exclusively in North America. From there, a global launch is scheduled for April 16 via On and select retailers at a starting price of $280 USD.
