Sabah, the independent brand renowned for its handmade leather shoes inspired by traditional Turkish slippers, has announced its inaugural collaboration with Engineered Garments. The partnership reimagines Sabah’s most classic silhouette, the Sabah, through the distinct, Americana-influenced lens of the New York-based label.

Engineered Garments founder Daiki Suzuki drew inspiration from traditional English footwear to conceptualize two unique styles. One version features perforated broguing, while the other incorporates metal studs. Suzuki stated that these design elements effectively express Engineered Garments’ method of subtly yet meaningfully adjusting a basic item to elevate it. This collaboration also marks the first time Sabah has produced its shoes with a black sole, black stitching, and black rubber outsoles.

“For many years,” says Suziki, “I’ve been observing traditional Turkish slip-on shoes like the Babouche, as well as the classic shallow-toe Belgian loafers. I’ve always wanted to take these simple shoe forms as a base and create something special with interesting design details. Meeting Sabah finally gave me the opportunity to bring this long-held vision to life.”
