Summary

  • Nearly five years after announcing their partnership, Fear of God and adidas are wrapping it up
  • Jerry Lorenzo stated in a new interview that their partnership is ending this month and the two have agreed not to renew it

It’s been nearly five years since Jerry Lorenzo’s team at Fear of God announced his partnership with adidas, shaking up the industry with a move that paired the two heavyweights together. However, it wasn’t until 2023, in the wake of Fear of God’s first runway show, that any products became available.

Now, a new Complex interview featuring Lorenzo reveals that the partnership is ending this year. When asked about the state of his relationship with adidas, Lorenzo shared, “As of today, I am still under contract with adidas… Our partnership ends at the end of December, and we’ve agreed not to renew it.”

The news is surprising, but not shocking. While we’ve seen the two brands introduce many footwear silhouettes over the past few years, none have grabbed sneakerheads like the Nike Air Fear of God 1 did back in 2018. Perhaps the partnership’s biggest impact has been with adidas Basketball, which suddenly transitioned its perspective in 2022 with new apparel and sneakers that were immediately compared to Lorenzo’s design language.
